Congratulations to Trevor Jestadt on making the step to JrA with the Springfield Blues of the NAHL

The Soo Indians are happy to see Trevor Jestadt of the 2013-2014 team pursue the next level in his hockey career.  Trevor spent the 2013-2014 season with the Soo Indians, were the scored 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points in 50 games along with 130 penalty minutes.  Not only was Trevor a leader on the ice but also in classroom were he was the validictorian of his class.  The Soo Indians family would like to wish Trevor great success at the next level.

Indians fall to west Michigan 4-3

In the first of a two game series the Indians came up one goal short. West Michigan opened the scoring in the first period and held the lead through the period. In the first minute of the second period Brenden MacLaren scored on a nice pass from Cole Lussier and Ashton Calder to tie the game, however the Hounds answered back with two goals to take a 3-1 lead into the dressing room at the end of two periods. In the third the Indians fought back on goals from Chris Hazen assisted by Josh Delaney and another from Ethan St.Germain assisted by Mike Miller to knot the score at 3-3. At the 12:29 mark the West Michigan player batted a loose puck pasted the Indians goaltender from the eventual game winner closing the game out for a 4-3 win for the Hounds. CJ Boothe stopped 31 shots in a loosing effort.

Both teams return to action at 12pm tomorrow at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Indians grind out a 6-3 win over the thunderbirds

In the second game of the six game series the Thunderbirds jumped out to 1-0 lead early in the first period and held the lead until the 17:21 mark of the second period when Mike Miller scored on a pass from Blake Mastaw and Ethan St.Germain. The Thunderbirds answered back with 2 goals to take a 3-1 lead, Brenden MacLaren put the Indians within 1 at the 12:17 mark of the second period assisted by John Pesek. The teams went to the dressing room with the score 3-2 Birds. In the the third the Indians came out ready to take the game back and at 13:07 Blake Mastaw scored to tie the game, assisted by Mike Miller. John Pesek scored on a shot from the point to take the lead and four minutes later Ethan St.Germain added to the lead assisted by Mastaw. With a few minutes remaining MacLaren scored his second of the game assisted by St.Germain and Nick Skaluba. Brandon Gordon took the win in net.

Next action for the Indians will be at home sept 28 and 29 against the West Michigan Hounds

Indians rebound to take game two over the warriors 6-1

From the Drop of the puck the Indians were determined to put pucks behind the Warrior goaltender and at the 2:38 mark of the first period Brendan Miller scored on passes from Kristian Jackson and Evan Augustine. The two teams played even till late in the period when Aston Calder took a psses from Brenden MacLaren and buried a shot into the net, two minutes later John Pesek scored on a shot from the point assisted by MacLaren. The Indians went into dressing room up 3-0.

In second period the the Indians added to their lead on Brenden Miller's second goal assisted by Jackson and Josh Delaney. In the third period Cole Lussier scored the first of his two goals at the 12:49 mark assisted by Maclaren and Calder, then again at 17:51 to close out the game assisted by Maclaren. The Michigan Warriors managed to score late in the third period, however CJ Boothe played excellent in the net taking the win.

Next action for the Indians will be sept 27 @ 7pm and 28 @ 12 at the Taffy Abel arena against the West Michigan Hounds.

Indians drop game 1 to Michigan Warriors 2-0

In the first game of the weekend series the Indians were stifled by the Warriors goaltender and couldn't get anything past him. At the midpoint of the first period the warriors scored to take a
Lead the Indians couldn't tie. In a game a game that they put many shots towards the Warriors net no one could break the ice to get the tying goal and at the 1740 mark of the Warriors scored an empty net goal to solidly the win. The Indians outshot them 44-19. Brandon Gordon took the loose in net.

The two teams face off again tomorrow at 11am at the Taffey Abel arena
