Indians fall in overtime to Victory Honda

Saturday the Indians and Victory Honda met at the Pullar Staduim for the second game of the weekend and it turned out to be a barn burner.  Victory Honda opened the scoring late in the first period and carried the lead into the second period then added another goal to up two, Colin Goff took a nice feed from Kyle Stevens to go in and beat their netminder to get back within one goal, Brandon Vernarsky had the other assist on the goal.  Seve Litz Knotted the score capitalizing on a power play assists going to Goff and Kole Altergott, Honda answered back with 2:10 left in the second for a 3-2 lead again.  Midway through the third period Altergott scored off a pass from Goff and Vernarsky while playing 4 on 4 to even the score at 3 a piece, with 8 minutes remaining neither team could capitalize sending the game into overtime. Three minutes into overtime Honda for the twine on an odd man rush to take the win.  Peter Baldwin played tough between the pipes for the Indians.

Sunday Morning Victory Honda came out quick get three in first period showing why they are the 7th ranked team in the nation scoring 4 more goals in the next two periods while the Indians couldn't generate any offense falling 7-0.  Cam Labadie had the duties in net for the Indians. 

Next weekend the Indians travel to Green Bay Wisconsin to play two games against the Green Bay Bobcats and 1 against the Janesville Jets on Sunday.

Indians double up on Victory Honda 2-1

In a Friday afternoon game at the Berry Events Center, in Marquette, the Indians took on Victory Honda in the first of three games this weekend in MAHA league action.  In a quick paced game both teams played even through out the first period trading scoring opportunities.  Midway through the second period Victory Honda took advantage of a powerplay jumping out to a 1-0 lead, the Indians fought back and Ethan Lindle scored on a pass from Kole Altergott and Grady Coppo to even the score at one a piece through two periods.  With 8 minutes remaining in the third period the Indians capitalized on powerplay of their own when Alex Fruend scored on a pass from Gabe Fisher and Kyle Stevens to take the one goal lead.  Victory Honda pressed hard for a goal but Cam Labadie shut the door to preserve the 2-1 win for Indians turning away 28 of 29 shots.

The second game of the weekend series will be played at the Pullar Staduim, today Saturday at 4pm, and the third game is Sunday 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena on the Campus of LSSU.

Indians split in Grand Rapids against Fox

This weekend the Indians went back on the road facing Fox Motors in Grand Rapids.  Saturday the Indians ran into a hot goalie, then Fox capitalized on 4 goals in the second period before Colin Goff scored from Alex Freund and Kyle Stevens to break the ice.  That however was all they could managed falling in a final score of 4-1, Cam Labadie was in the net for the loss.

Sunday both teams played even through the first period then Fox found the net twice for a 2-0 lead, Alex Fruend cut the lead in half early in the second assisted by Seve Litz. Late in the second Fox regained the 2 goal lead that they carried into the third period, in the third Colin Goff scored from Cole Peterson and Kevin Smith to start the comeback.  Kyle Stevens tied the game up 50 seconds later from Jacob Nanna and Robbie Landis, then with 3:19 remaining Gabe Fisher joined the rush scoring what would turn out to be the game winning goal from Fruend and Scott Vanderhoff.  Peter Baldwin took the win between the pipes for the Indians.

Next action for the Indians will be next Friday, 1pm in Marquette at the Berry Events center against Victory Honda, they will return to face Victory Honda again Saturday 4pm at the Pullar Staduim, with final game of the weekend Sunday 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena in MAHA league games.

Indians split on the road with Lake Forrest Prep Academy

This weekend the Indians traveled to Chicago to take on LFA, in the opening game Saturday the Indians jumped out to an early lead on goal by Colin Goff 3 minutes into the first period set up by Kevin Smith and Ethan Chambers.  The Indians carried the 1-0 through the first period, in the second LFA took advantage of penalties scoring on three power plays for 3-1 lead through two periods, in the third LFA added two more goals for the 5-1 win.  Peter Baldwin was in the net for the Indians.

 

On Sunday Lake Forrest jumped out to 2-0 lead before Kole Altergott scored from Cole Peterson to cut the lead in half, early in the second period Grady Coppo scored off a pass from Altergott and Kevin Smith to even the score.  In the thrid Seve Litz beat the LFA netminder from Curtis Hubbard and JT Gollinger to put the Indians up 3-2 and with LFA's net empty Kyle Stevens won the battle for a loose puck scoring to solidify the 4-2 win with Goff get the assist on the goal.  Cam Labadie took the win in net for the Indians.

Next action for the Indians will be in Grand Rapids Saturday 3pm and Sunday 11am at Byron Center against Fox Motors.

Compuware battles back for a 3-2 shoot out win over the Indians

Sunday mornings game started with the Indians opening the scoring midway through the period when Alex Freund beat the Ambassadors goaling on a shot assisted by Colin Goff and Jacob Nanna and three minutes later Goff scored on shot from the slot after being set up by JT Gollinger and Grady Coppo for the 2-0 lead.  The second period had both teams trading opportunities however neither scored, Compuware finally found the net early in the third period scoring two goals to knot up the score which ended regulation time 2-2.  In the five minute 4 on 4 overtime neither team managed to score and the game was decided in a 3 man shot out in favor of Compuware, Cam Labadie had the duties in net for the Indians.

Next weekend the Indians will be on the road to Chicago where they will play Lake Forrest Prep Academy.
