Indians upend the New Jersey Rockets 5-2

The second game of the Tier1 showcase pitted the Indians against the New Jersey Rockets.  The Rockets opened the scoring in the first period to take the early lead in the game.  With 34 seconds remaining in the first period Evan Hoglund scored from Marco Beaubien and Carson Unger to even the score at 1 a piece through one period.  In the second period Unger scored on the power play assisted by Wyatt Fischer and Treyce Moran to take the lead, then late in second period Jordan Murray scored unassisted and with 2:53 remaining in the period Tyler Neveau scored from Deven Jones-McDonald to send the teams to the dressing room with the Indians up 4-1.  In the third Deven Jones-McDonald scored from Hoglund for a 5-1 lead, then Rockets got on the board, from that point Nathan Maguire shut the door to earn the 5-2 win for the Indians.

Next action for the Indians will be at 3:45 against the California Pats in the third game of the Showcase.

Indians open the Tier1 Hockey Federation showcase with an 8-1 win

In the opening game of the Tier1 Hockey Federation showcase in Pittsburg the Indians came out quick scoring three goals in the opening period. Jordan Murray started the scoring early in the period from Deven Jones-McDonald, then Carter Huckson scored 50 seconds later from Tyler Neveau and Murray got his second of the game from Evan Hoglund and Jones-McDonald to give the Indians a 3-0 lead through the first period.  Murray scored his third of the game for the hat trick early in the second period from Sam Swintek and Hoglund and Carter Huckson got his second of the game from Colton the 5-0 lead at the end of the second period.  Jarret Crimin got the 6th Indians goal early in the third period from Swintek and Dominic Cicco, however the Chiefs got one past the Indians netminder to get on the board.  Midway through the final period Carson Unger put a rebound into the net assisted by Carter Huckson and Marco Beaubien and Sam Swintek closed out the scoring on a shot from the point assisted by Hoglund and Murray to close out the scoring and final score of 8-1.  Isiah Anderson earned the win in net for the Indians.

The Indians will return to the ice tonight at 8pm to take on the New Jersey Rockets.  All games are being streamed on LiveBarn.

Indians topple the Jr. Greyhounds

The Indians traveled north across the border Sunday afternoon for the weekend rematch against the Jr. Greyhounds at the Rhodes Arena.  The Jr. Greyhounds got on the scoreboard first late in the opening period, but with 1:40 remaining in the period Wyatt Fischer beat their netminder after Carter Huckson won the offensive zone draw to even the score.  In the second period the Indians added two more goals, first Deven Jones-McDonald scored off a pass from Jordan Murray, then Evan Hoglund lit the lamp from Jones-McDonald and Murray for a two lead at the end of two periods.  In the third the Indians continued to score as Jordan Murray got his first of two goals, assisted by Jones-McDonald and Hoglund, then scored again from Hoglund.  The final goal of the game came as a short handed one when Treyce Moran muscled the puck out of zone to an open Carter Huckson who went in on a breakaway and beat their netminder for the Indians sixth goal.  Nathan Maguire played excellent in the net for the Indians earning the win.

The Indians will now head back on the road to Pittsburg Pennsylvania to compete in Tier 1 Hockey Federation Showcase.

Indians top the Jr. Greyhounds 

In the first match of the cross boarder series against the Soo Ontario Jr Greyhounds the Indians came out on top 4-3.  Evan Hoglund opened the scoring tipping a pass from Deven Jones-McDonald and Jordan Murray for the early lead midway through the first period.  Carter Huckson buried a rebound off a shot from Jarret Crimin for the 2-0, then added his second of the game late in the period for a 3-0 lead.  The Jr. Greyhounds got on the board in the second, then added a second goal to send the teams to the third period with a score of 3-2 in favor of the Indians.  Early in the third the Greyhounds capitalized on a turn off to tie the game 3-3, but with 58 seconds remaining Tyler Neveau scored on a shot from the point, assisted by Carter Huckson and Crimin, which turn into the game winning goal as the game ended 4-3.  Isiah Anderson played excellent in net for the Indians to get the win.

The Indians will travel to Sault Ontario to play the rematch against the Jr. Greyhounds 330 at the Rhodes arena tomorrow.

Chicago Mission blanks the Indians

Sunday morning the Indians the met up with power house the Chicago Mission.  Through the first period both teams traded scoring opportunities but could not get on the board, in the second Chicago scored midway into the period for the lead then added a second late in period for 2-0 lead at the end of 2 periods.  The third saw the Mission score 3 more goals for 5-0 final score.  Isiah Anderson played excellent in net for Indians in a loosing effort.

The Indians will return home for a series against the Soo Greyhounds U18 on Saturday 4pm at the Taffy Abel arena and Sunday 330 pm at the John Rhodes Arena in Sault Ontario.
