Thunderbirds Bow Out

Soo Thundirds Midget AAA from Sault Ste Marie Ont Canada have informed the Soo Indians staff that they will not full fill there game commitment. They are in a rebuilding year and are not ready to compete at this level as there roster is full of midget minor aged players.

Grizzlies down the Indians 6-2

On the Sunday the Indians faced off against the Oakland Grizzlies from Detroit.  Oakland opened the scoring early into the first period to take a 1-0 lead then again 3 minutes later to go up two on the Indians before Brendan Miller scored from Jonathon Bostwick to get back with in one.  Late in the first period Oakland scored again to regain a two goal lead through the first period.  In the second it was the Indians scoring early on power play when Anthony Harris scored assisted by Zach Ahola and Spencer DenBeste to make it 3-2.  Oakland manage to score late in the second and the teams went to the dressing room with a 4-2 score.  The Indians weren't able to manage to score in the third, while Oakland added two with an empty net goal to solidfy the win.  Shaun Brown stopped 35 shots in a losing effort.
The Indians will not travel to Detroit next weekend for three games Friday, Saturday and Sunday against Little Caesars, Victory Honda and Honeybaked.

Off ice trainers added to the staff

The Soo Indians are very happy to announce the additions of Alan MacArther and Kyle Shaw to the training staff for this season.  Alan and Kyle have a vast amount of knowledge in off ice conditioning through a variety of past experiences and academics. Their main goal is to add strength and flexibility to each player so they can better withstand the 65 game season.

Green Bay skates to a 3-2 win over the Indians

In the Sunday morning rematch between the Indians and Gamblers, Green Bay caught the Indians sleeping in the first period and jumped out to 3-0 lead.  In the second the Indians found some life and at the 5:49 mark Brendan Miller took a pass in the slot from Zach Ahola and put the shot behind the gambler goalie, with the other assist going to Anthony Harris.  The Indians fought to get within one when Harris's shot from the point found the net with .6 seconds remaining in the period, assists going to Ahola and Miller.  In the third neither team could get a goal and game ended 3-2.  Will Hartwick took the lose in net for the Indians.
The Indians next action will be Sunday October the 18th, 11 am at the Pullar Stadium against the Oakland Grizzilies.

Indians double up on Green Bay 4-2

In the opening game of the two game series both teams played even until late in the first period when Green Bay opened the scoring late, however the Indians came back quickly in the second when Brenden MacLaren buried a shot short side on a pass from Brendan Miller to tie the game up at 1.  Late in the second Drew Goupille scored on a shot from the point assisted by Tommy Holowchuk and Tiger Weber to put the Indians up by 1.  In the third period the Indians added to their lead on a powerplay goal by Spencer DenBeste assisted by Anthony Harris and Nick Skaluba, then less than a minute later Aaron Shahin tipped a shot pasted the Green Bay netminder from Justin Hendrickson to put the Indians up 3.  Green Bay refused to stop and late in the third scored to get within 2 however that was all they could get and the Indians took home the win 4-2.  Shaun Brown took the win between the pipes for the Indians.
Both teams return to action Sunday morning 10 am at the Pullar Stadium.
