Indians nip the Thunderbirds 3-2
In the first meeting of the crossworder match between the Soo Indians AAA and Soo Thunderbirds/Rivercity Sports AAA team the Indians prevailed 3-2 on a late third period goal. In the first period the Thunderbirds struck first to take the lead, then in the second period Chase Tallaire set up Colton Hayes, with the other assist going to Nicholas Castillo to even up the score. Then late in the second the Thunderbirds regained the lead which stood through the remainder of the period. Down by one entering the period the Indians came out with a little more urgency and midway through the period Jovani Moses beat the Thunderbird goalie on a nice shot while breaking in on net tie the game again, assisted went to Andrew Schwartz and Domenick Evtimov. With one minute remaining Hayes got his second of the night as he streaked down the right side of the ice and beat the defender putting shot over the shoulder of the netminder to secure the win, Trevor Prince and Nolan Dresch had assists on the goal. Indians netminders Gabe Rosek and Dakota Meyer split the game both allowing just one goal in a winning effort.
The Indians will be back in action Saturday at 3pm, Sunday at 10am, when they take on Fox Motors from Grand Rapids at the Taffy Abel Arena.
