Carricato returns as head coach

 Patrick Carricato has been named head Coach of the Soo Indians.  Patrick will be assisted by Klem Kelgar

   Carricato has 20 years of coaching experience including Jr A in Northern Ontario, Major Midget AAA in Canada and the United States.    Patricks coaching style and bench management will help our players reach there maximum potential as hockey players to get them prepared for the next level of there hockey careers.

  Kelgar who played at Lake Superior State and on the Slovenia National team brings numerous years of hockey experience to our team,  Klems positive attitude and willingness to help players improve will be a great fit to work alongside Carricato on the bench.

    The Soo Indians would also like to thank outgoing coach Sean Tallaire for coaching the past 2 seasons,  Tallaire will stay part of the team scouting and evaluating potential players.

Indians Spring Skates

The Indians will have spring skates starting March 5th on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 5pm at the Taffy Abel Arena.  Their will be no charge to current players, all other players wishing to skate it will cost $5 per skate.

Indians drop two games in Grand Rapids

Saturday the Indians opened the scoring on a Andrew Schwartz goal from Adam Brzezicki and Brad MacArthur for the lead which they held thru the first period.  Fox got on the board in the second to knot the score, then Cooper Smyl scored on a power play from Colton Hayes to regain the lead, however Fox Motors fought back even the score at 2 a piece at the end of the 2nd period.  Early in the third Fox jumped out to a two goal lead before Hayes scored from Nolan Dresch and Schwartz to get within one.  With the net empty Fox solicited the game with 1:48 for the 5-3 final, Dakota Meyer was in the net for the Indians.
Sunday was all Fox Motors as they scored 7 goals with the only bright spot being a Luke Parry goal in the second period, assisted by Adam Brzezicki and Brad MacArthur.  Gabe Rosek had the netminder duties for the Indians.

Pittsburg tops the Indians 6-2

In the final game of the NAPHL Dixon cup playoffs the Pittsburg Esmark Stars came out on top 6-2.  The Indians took the early lead in the first period on Luke Parry goal, set up by Domenick Evtimov and Cody Carlson.  Esmark fought back scoring 4 unanswered goals in the second period to take the lead.  In the third Pittsburg added another before Carlson scored on a power play from Chase Tallaire and Nolan Dresch, however the Stars added one more before the buzzer for the 6-2 final.  Gabe Rosek took the loss in net.
The Indians next action will be next Saturday and Sunday in Grand Rapids against Fox Motors.

Indians fall to Wenatchee 2-0

Saturday the Indians Indians met the Wenatchee Wolves, less than 20 seconds in the Indians got caught off the face off and went down 1-0, from that point the Indians pressed hard unfortunately couldn’t break the ice and get on the board.  Late in the third the Wolves added to their lead on a power play.  Despite out shooting the Wolves 29 to 27 they fell 2-0.  Dakota Meyer took the loss in net.
Sunday the Indians will face the Pittsburg Emark Stars at 1115 am at the Troy Sport Plex.
