The first skates will be divided by teams for skating and skills evaluation. The White team will be on the ice from 10:30 to 11:10 then the Black team will take to the ice at 11:20 to 12:00. Both teams will return to the ice at 4pm for their first scrimmage and return 10am Sunday morning. Below is a list for the team assignments

Soo Indians a stepping stone to the future
Many players throughout the years have used the Soo Indians as stepping stone both on ice and off ice to build character and skill to pursue their dreams in both hockey and life. For the local players its growing up in area that is filled with hockey history and teams, many of the greats have played in the area, Wayne Gretzky, Ron Francis, the Esposito brother just to mention a few. For players that move to the area they are welcomed into the community through their billet families and hockey fans, many of the players attend Sault Area High School or take classes at LSSU that allows them to get involved and enjoy the history of the area along with working towards their next adventure in hockey. The Sault Area is surrounded with hockey, the Greyhounds of the OHL, Lake Superior State of the WCHA, The Soo Eagles and Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL, which ensures that players are continually being watch by all levels of hockey. The Soo Indians organization has achieved great success throughout the years at moving players on to the Jr A, and College ranking to further their dreams, below is a list of players in the past few years who have taken this path on their journey.
Denver Pierce: Denver a local player spent two season with the Indians prior to signing with the Soo Eagles of the North American League, then moved on to four years at the Northern Michigan University, captaining the team his senior year, then joined the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL at the conclusion of the WCHA playoffs
Casey Gilling: Casey spent one season with the team, then furthered his career in the NAHL with the Minnesota Wilderness and Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL prior to joining the Miami Redhawks of the NCDC where he is currently in going into his junior year.
Aston Calder: Aston another local product spent two seasons with the Indians prior to making the jump to the NAHL with the Minnesota Wilderness. In his second season of junior hockey Aston played for the Surrey Eagles in the BCHL, then moved to the Lincoln Stars of the USHL for his last year prior to joining the Lake Superior State Lakers of the WCHA. In Aston’s freshman year he was awarded rookie of the week 3 times and rookie of the month once culminating in him being picked for the WCHA All Rookie Team.
Brenden MacLaren: Brenden spent three seasons with the Indians playing in 173 games amassing 141 points. Upon completion of his final season he tendered with the Janesville Jets of the NAHL where he spent two and half season prior to being traded to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and is currently competing in the play offs for the Robertson Cup. Brenden is a 2019/20 commit to the Ferris State Bulldogs of the WCHA.
Spencer DenBeste: Spencer was a member of the Indians for two years putting up 115 points before tendering with Springfield Blue of the NAHL. After his first season at Springfield Spencer spent time with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders and Sioux Falls of the USHL, then moved to the Prince George Spruce Kings of the BCHL, winning their playoffs to advance to the all Canada tournament. Spencer is 2020/21 commit to the Lake Superior State Lakers of the WCHA.
Frank Pucci: A draft pick of the Erie Otters of the OHL, Frankie scored 62 points in 52 games to lead the Indians then signed with the Niagara Falls Canucks of the GOJHL. With the Canucks he scored an amazing 257 points in 173 games and currently playing for the Brock University Badgers.
Andrew Barbeau: Andrew Captained the Indians during tenor and was a force on the blue line that all the opposing forwards looked for while coming up the ice. Drafted by the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL and played with Michigan Warriors of the NAHL. Andrew spent time with the Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL before landing with the Niagara Falls Canucks of the GOJHL where he played 122 games during his career and Captaining the team. Currently he is continuing his education and hockey with the Sault College Cougars of the ACHA III and just captured the National Championship in Dallas Texas.
Cole Lussier: Cole was another local talent that proved himself both on and off the ice. During his two seasons Cole put up 100 points in 115 games. Cole played one year with the Kanata Lasers of the CCHL before moving to the Amarillo Bulls of the NAHL and choose Trine University NCAA D III to pursue his education and hockey.
John Pesek: Johnny skated with Indians one season prior to the being drafted by the Austin Bruins of the NAHL also spending time with the Green Gamblers of the USHL. Currently John is playing toward the Robertson Cup with Amarillo Bulls and a committed to the University of St. Thomas.
Brandon Gordon: Brandon, another local player was a back stop for the Indians for two years prior to him moving to the Soo Thunderbirds where he appeared in 92 games posting a 2.31 GAA and 93% save. Brandon continued his hockey and education signing with Wilkes University playing in 24 games and being named goaltender of the week.
Seiya Hayata: Seiya spent one season with the Indians, a native of Japan, he compiled 21 points in 52 games and was mainstay on the defense. Seiya moved to the NAHL and currently competes in Asia professional league with the Tohoku Free Blades and internationally for Japan.
Triston Theriot: Triston was a member of the 2014/15 Indians competing in 59 games compiling 15 points as a steady tough defenseman. He moved to the NA3HL and finally with QJAAAHL League before committing to the Westfield State University NCAA DIII to pursue his education and hockey.
Zach Ahola: Zach played in 61 games for the Indians scoring 31 points before moving to the junior ranks with the New Hampshire Avalanche of the EHL. Zach moved on to the college ranks with SUNY-Canton of the NCAA D III.
Drew Goupille: Drew played two seasons with the Indians before moving on to Jr A with the Northern Cyclones of the EHL and Connecticut Nighthawks of the USPHL Premier. Drew committed to Anna Maria College of the NCAA D III.
Aidan Curry: In one season Aidan appeared in 26 games posting a 2.57 goals against with a 91% save percentage. Aidan signed with the Boston Jr Rangers of the EHL and committed to SUNY-Brockport NCAA D III.
Ethan St. Germain: Ethan played 165 games scoring 89 points before moving on to the Jr ranks, then committed to Finlandia University to pursue his education.
Zach Satalino: Zach spent 2014/15 with the Indians scoring 27 points prior to entering his Jr career prior to committing to play college hockey at College of St. Scholastica.
Trevor Jestadt: Trevor appeared in 82 games scoring 51 points, then moved on to Juniors and committing to Finlandia University for his education.
Brendan Miller: Brendan was strong power forward competing in 165 games scoring 112 points for the Indians, then moving to the Soo Thunderbirds of the NOJHL. With the Thunderbirds Brenden has 43 points in 95 and is currently playing for the Copeland Cup – McNamara Trophy and the right to compete the all Canada Championship.
Jeff Rahilly: Jeff played two years with the Indians before signing with Davenport University to continue his hockey and pursue his education.
Other players that have developed and moved on include Spencer Silver, New Jersey Rockets NCDC, Justin Hendrickson Rochester Monarchs NCDC, Hayden Clark Soo Eagles NOJHL, Cam Parrott Soo Eagles NOJHL, Zak Lasley Jersey Shore Whalers USPHL Premier, Landon Hubbard Soo Eagles NOJHL, Garth Wickham New England Wolves USPHL Premier, Jake Smith Jersey Shore Whalers USPHL Premier, Tommy Holowchuk Jersery Shore Whalers USPHL, Mat Thurston Philadelphia Hockey Club USPHL Premier. Nolan Slechtka Lockport Regals GOJHL, CJ Boothe Fairbanks Ice Dogs NAHL, Mike Miller AJHL, Tiger Weber Jersey Whalers USPHL Premier, and Jordan Lawday British Professional league.
