Indians down the Capitals 5-2
The Saturday night match up between the Indians and the Capitals started out as a tight checking match until Evan Augustine picked off a pass between their defense and went in to beat the Capitals goalie to take a 1-0 lead through the first period. In the second Lansing stormed back to tie the game at the 4:02 mark, however the Indians took back the lead on a powerplay goal by Trevor Jestadt assisted by Mike Miller to regain the lead at the 11:20 mark. The Capitals did not quit and with 1.5 seconds remaining in the second period they found a way get the puck past the Indians goaltender to knot the score at 2 at the end of the second period. In the third period the Indians came out determined to pick up the pace and regain the lead, with 40 seconds into the period Cole Lussier took and pass from Ashton Calder and Blake Mastaw and put the Indians back in the lead again. Later in the period Trevor Jestadt followed in on a rush and picked up a rebound assisted by Kristian Jackson and Zach Satalino to go up two goals on the Capitals. With time winding down and the Capitals goalie pulled Brandon Gordon cleared the puck up the wall on dump in and ended up on the stick of Brenden Maclaren who scored on the empty net to solidify a 5-2 win for the Indians. Brandon Gordon was in the net for the tribe in a winning effort. Both teams return to action tomorrow morning at 11am at the Pullar Staduim.
