Indians fall twice on the opening day of the Compuware Invitational

Fridays opening game pitted the Indians against Team Ohio, from the beginning it was physical game up and down the ice with neither team being able score in the first two periods. In the third Team Ohio scored on power play midway through the period to take the lead, the Indians pressed back but couldn’t buy a goal and with 30 seconds remaining and the net empty Team Ohio solidified the win with a goal for the 2-0 win. Dakota Meyer played outstanding in the net for the Indians.
Fridays second game was against Southern Florida Academy, early on the Indians got caught and Florida jumped out to a 3-0 lead before we got going. In the second the teams played even, but in the third the Indians finally broke the ice when Nicholas Castillo scored on a pass from Cooper Smyl and Chase Tallaire. Southern Florida scored on power plays to regain the 3 goal lead, then Castillo scored his second of the from Luke Parry to get back within two, then with 30 seconds remaining Parry scored short handed from Griffen Hernalsteen and Nolan Dresch to get within 1, but time ran out ending with the score of 4-3 for Florida. Dakota Meyer had another excellent game between the pipes for the Indians.
The next game with be 1120 Saturday against the Amherst Knights at the Farmington Hills Ice Arena.
