Indians open the weekend with a 4-1 win over Meijer AAA
Saturday night proved to be a up and down close checking game in the first period with both teams exchanging good scoring chances but both goaltenders stood tall, in the second Nick Castillo joined the rush and beat the Meijer netminder to give the Indians a 1-0 lead, assists going to Kevin Smith and Max Povorozniouk. Cain Grosbeck added to the lead on a power play set up by Castillo and Chase Tallaire, finally PJ Donnelly scored with 37 seconds remaining in the period from Grosbeck and Kyle Portlock to give the Indians a 3-0 lead heading into the third period. Meijer didn't stop pressing the third and with their net empty they got on the board, however Tommy Cahill put the Indians back up by three with an empty net goal of his own from Kobie Guidebeck and Kevin Smith to secure the win for the Indians. Gabe Rosek turned away 33 shots to earn the win in net for the Indians.
Both teams will be back on the ice tomorrow morning 1030am at the Taffy Abel arena for the second game of the series.
