Indians drop a pair to the Oakland Jr. Grizzilies
Monday, December 20, 2021 at 08:52PM The final weekend of 2021 had the Indians traveling to Troy Michigan to faceoff against the number 9 nationally ranked Oakland Jr Grizzilies in MAHA league action. Saturday Oakland got on the board in the first period for the lead which they carried into the third period before Kole Altergoff scored on the powerplay from Robbie Landis to even the score at 1-1. Midway through the second period the Grizzilies regained the lead, however with 4:09 remaining Colin Goff scored unassisted beating their netminder over the shoulder to even the score at 2 and send the game into overtime. In overtime the Indians missed on their opportunities and Oakland capitalized for the 3-2 overtime win with 2:58 remaining. Talyor White played outstanding between the pipes for the Indians in a lossing effort.
Sunday both teams met again and this time it was the Indians jumping out to the early lead when Alex Fruend scored from Grady Coppo. Oakland didn't quit and evened the score two minutes later, then took the lead late in the Third, then added one more goal in each of the final two period for the 4-1 win. Cam Labadie played excellent in the net for the Indians.
The Indians will take a break for the Christmas before returning to the Sault on December 29th to prepare for the second half of the season and the run to the MAHA State Championships.
