Indians fall in the Season opener 7-6 to Honeybaked
The Indians opened the 2021/22 season in Troy Michigan against Honeybaked at the Tier 1 showcase. Honeybaked got on the board early, however Kole Altergott answered back beating their goalie off the face off to even the score. Less than three minutes later Colin Goff got on the board from Altergott on a powerplay to put the Indians up 2-1 and 30 seconds later Goff added his second on a powerplay from Kyle Stevens for the two goal lead. Honeybaked answered back on a powerplay of their own to get back within one goal. Late in the second Goff scored his third of the night, short handed, for a 4-2 lead at the end of the first period. Honeybaked didn't stop and added a goal early in the second to cut the lead, then Goff added his fourth goal of the game for the 5-3 lead and then beat the Honeybaked defenseman to the puck and set up Jacob Nanna in front of the net for a 6-3 lead, also assisted by Aedan Haapala. Honeybaked scored late in period again to send the teams into the third period with the Indians up 6-4. The third period saw Honeybaked score three unanswered goals to secure a 7-6 win scoring with 1:18 remaining in the game to take the lead. Peter Baldwin was in net for the Indians.
