Indians down the West Michigan Hounds 3-2

In a fast paced up and down game both teams had several scoring opportunities before Trevor Jestadt took a nice pass from Casey Gilling and Frankie Pucci at the 9:38 mark of the first period to open the scoring for the Indians and kept 1-0 lead through the first period. West Michigan answered back 8 minutes into the second period to tie the game up on a power play. With 1:12 left Nick Cammarata beat the defenseman and a foot race to the puck with their goaltender to set up Brian Stack for a goal and the other assist going to Andrew Barbeau. The teams went to the dressing room with the Indians up 2-1. In the third period West Michigan came out and tied the the game up with 8 minutes remaining, however 2 minutes later Ashton Calder beat the Hounds goaltender for what would be the game winning goal assisted by Landon Hubbard and Ethan St.Germain. Brandon Gordon played exceptional in net for Indians to take the win.

Both teams return to action tomorrow morning at 10am at the Pullar Stadium.

Indians rebound to take a 5-3 win over lake Forrest prep academy

Saturdays game start much the same as the Indians scored first when Trevor Temple put home a rebound to break the ice assisted by Ashton Calder. Two minutes later Frankie Pucci lit the lamp on a power play, set up by Cole Lussier and Cade Nolan ending the period up 2-0. In the second period the Indians picked up right were they left off when Ashton Calder scored unassisted on a strong move to the net to go up 3-0, then five minutes later Temple scored his second of the game tipping a shot from the point by Kyle Yates and assisted by Mike Miller. Lake Forest finally found the net to get within 3 and with four minutes remaining in the period the Indians went down two men on penalties to give Lake Forest a 5-3 power play for two minutes. During the power play Lake Forest sent many shots at the net, but Brandon Gordon was up to the test making several spectacular saves and shut the door refusing to allow anything by him killing off the penalties. The teams went to the intermission with the Indians up 4-1. Lake Forest came out determined to get back in the game and scored at 7:23 mark to make it 4-2 game, however two minutes later Trevor Jestadt blocked a shot and on an outstanding individual effort beat the defenseman and goalie to increase the Indians lead again. Lake Forest managed to get one more goal before Gordon shut the door to take the 5-3 win in the net.

The Indians return to action next Saturday at 5pm and Sunday at 10am. Both games will be played at the Pullar Stadium.

Indians fall to lake forest prep 8-2

In the first period the Indians opened the scoring at the 6:14 mark of the first period when Brenden Maclaren buried a pass from Landon Hubbard and Trevor Temple to jump out to a 1-0 lead that they kept to finish the period. In the second Lake Forest tied the game early in the second period, however Hubbard took the lead back at the 5:20 mark from MacLaren. From that point on it was all Lake Forest as they scored 5 unanswered goals, 4 on the powerplay and ended the second period down 7-2. The third period was played evenly until Lake Forest scored their final goal to take the game 8-2. Brandon Gordon took the lose in net for the Indians.

Both teams return to the ice Saturday morning 10am at the Taffey Abel Arena.

Congratulation to goaltender Jared Sauve on Being called up to the Soo eagles of the North American hockey league

Jared moves up with a record of 11 wins 5 loses and tie, 2.0 Goals against and a 91% save percentage. During season with the Indians he could always be counted for the big save that would give us a chance to win any game. The Indians staff wish Jared the best of luck with this opportunity that he has earned.

Indians shoot down the falcons 3-1 to take the sweep on the weekend

Sundays game start fast for both teams with end to end action until Frankie Pucci lit the lamp at the 16:49 of the first period from Casey Gilling. The Falcons answered back in the final minute of the period to tie the game up. Cole Lussier gave the Indians the lead again at 12:28 on a power play from Pucci and Trevor Jestadt to give the Indians a 2-1 lead. In the final period the Indians put continuous pressure on Falcons goaltender but missed several golden opportunities, finally with 1:35 left in the third Lussier scored from Pucci and Gilling to close out the game and give the team a 3-1 win. Brandon Gordon took the win in net.

The Indians will face off against Lake Forest Prep Academy Friday night at 7pm and Saturday at 10 am. Both games will be played at the Taffey Abel Arena on the campus of Lake Superior State University.

Going into the weekend the Indians have a record of 26-19-1-2.
