On the road to flint for the showcase

The first game of the showcase will be Friday night at 6pm against the Utah Regulators. On Saturday the Indians will face off against the Indiana Ice at 11:30am and the Naperville Sabres at 7pm. In the final game the Indians will play the Belle Tire Selects.

Cleveland takes a 2-1 victory over the Indians in a hard fought contest

In a Sunday rematch both teams picked up were they left of Saturday night with fast end to end action. Cleveland lit the lamp first scoring at the 7:26 mark of the first period to go up 1-0. The Indians fought back at the 4:57 mark of the second period on a power play when Seiya Hayata ripped a slap shot past the Cleveland goaltender, assists going to Frankie Pucci and Casey Gilling. At 5:19 the Barons scored their second goal to take the lead. In the third period both teams traded great scoring opportunities, however neither goalie would allow anything past and the game ended 2-1. Brandon Gordon played stellar in the pipes stopping 36 shots in a losing effort.

Overall Coach Carricato felt "even in loosing the game, the kids played and competed against one of the best teams in the nation and both games had the opportunity to win. We will learn from these games and continue to get better, I was very proud of the teams effort this weekend".

The Indians travel to Flint next weekend to compete in a Showcase event. Their first game will be Friday night at 6 against the Utah Regulators.

Indians fall to the Cleveland Barons 4-2 

In a match up against the Cleveland Barons the Indians came out ready to play and at the 4:22 mark of the first period Ethan St.Germain took a pass from Brian Stack and scored to put the Indians up 1-0. Cleveland answered back at the 14:57 mark to tie the game up. Heading into the second period tied 1-1 the Indians Ethan St.Germain tipped a shot from the point from Seiya Hayata to go up 2-1 at the 5:44 mark with second assist going to Landon Hubbard. Cleveland scored at the 14:47 mark and both teams went to the dressing tied after 36 minutes. In the third period both teams traded golden opportunities until Cleveland jumped out on a breakaway with one minute left in regulation to go up 3-2. The Indians mounted a finally charge but couldn't get it past the Cleveland goaltender and after they retrieved a lose puck with goaltender out Cleveland scored an empty net goal to take the the win. Jared Sauve played outstanding stopping 54 shots in an losing effort.

10 am Sunday for the second game of the weekend series at the Pullar Stadium.

The Indians loose in a shoot out in the second game against the west Michigan hounds

In the Sunday rematch both teams skated even in the first period with neither team scoring. In the second at the 10:19 mark Casey Gilling broke in alone on the Hounds goalie and put a nice shot in the net with assists going to Cole Lussier and Frankie Pucci. Gilling got his second of the game at the 1:04 during battle in front of the Hounds net with assists to Lussier and Pucci again and Indians went to the dressing room with a 2 goal lead. In the third West Michigan scored to unanswered goals to knot the game up. Both teams had chances to win however the game ended in a 2-2 tie through regulation. In the 3 man shoot out none of the Indians could get one past the Hounds net minder and their final shooter scored to take the win. Jared Sauve was in the net for the Indians stopping 27 shots.

The Indians will be home next weekend when the number 1 ranked team in country, the Cleveland Barons travel to the Soo for Saturday night 7 pm game at the Big Bear arena and a Sunday morning at 10am rematch at the Pullar Stadium.

Indians take a 5-4 win over the west Michigan hounds

West Michigan jumped out to a 3 goal lead in the first period before the Indians started to generate some offensive. At 16:33 of the second period Seiya Hayata took a nice pass at the point from Casey Gilling and ripped a slap shot past the Hounds goalie to open the scoring. West Michigan answered back with another goal to go up 4-1. At 2:31 Casey Gilling put a shot past the goalie on a nice pass from Frankie Pucci and the Indians went to the dressing room down 4-2. In the third period the boys came out flying and at the 14:27 Mike Miller put a rebound past the goalie, assists going to Nick Camarrata and Trevor Temple. Twenty six seconds later Cole Lussier took a pass from Frankie Pucci and Casey Gilling to go in on a breakaway and buried the puck past the Hounds goalie to tie the game. At the 8:10 mark Trevor Temple took an nice pass from Brian Stack and TJ Zajac to score what turned out to be the game winning goal. Brandon Gordon shut the door in net to solidify the win.

Coach Carricato stated "that this was a great character builder for the team coming back from a 3 goal deficit"

The teams play the second game of series tomorrow morning at 10 am.
