The Indians complete a 3 game sweep on weekend with a win over the Michigan hockey academy and two against the Detroit falcons
Indians 3 Michigan Hockey Academy 2
In the first game of the weekend the Indians face off against the Michigan Hockey Academy. Brenden MacLaren opened the scoring in the first period with an assist going to Ethan St.Germain to take the early lead, However Michigan Hockey Academy answered back with two goals of their own. In the closing minutes of the second period Frankie Pucci put one past their goalie on a power play to tie the game with assists going to Nick Cammarata and Seiya Hayata. In the final period Seiya Hayata scored on a slap shot from the point with assists going to St.Germain and MacLaren. Jared Sauve closed the door in net to take the win.
Indians 4 Detroit Falcons 0
In the second game against the Falcons the teams played even through the first period. In the second the Indians put 3 past the Falcons netminder starting with Cole Lussier from Trevor Jestadt and Frankie Pucci followed by Landon Hubbard from Brian Stack. The final goal of the second was scored by Brian Stack unassisted. In the third Frankie Pucci scored from Kyle Yates. Brandon Gordon had the shut out in net.
Indians 2 Detroit Falcons 0
In the final game of the weekend both teams played tied through two periods. In the third Trevor JestAdt scored a shorthanded goalie after tenaciously forechecking the falcons stealing the puck and burying in behind the Falcons goalie to take the 1-0. With 48 seconds remaining Nick Cammarata put one into the empty net to ice the win. Jared Sauve took the win and shut out in net.
The Indians are off for a weekend then travel to Kalamazoo to take on the West Michigan Hounds.
Indians drop a pair of weekend games against the Michigan Nationals
On Saturday the Nationals scored three unanswered goals to take 3-0 victory. Jared Sauve stopped 33 shots in a losing effort. In the Sunday rematch the Nationals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and added another goal in the second to take a 3-0 lead into the third period. In the third the Indians finally broke the Ice when Frankie Pucci took a nice pass from Trevor Jestadt and put the puck behind the Nationals goalie. The Indians mounted a final charge and put pressure on the Nationals but couldn't get another goal. The Nationals scored an empty net goal with two seconds left to take the win. Brandon Gordon took the lose in net stopping 30 shots.
The Indians travel to Detroit next weekend to take on the Detroit Falcons.
Schedule Change
The Soo Indians will be playing Saturday evening at the Pullar Stadium at 4:30 against Michigan Nationals. It was previously posted that the game would be play at 3:00 at Taffy Abel.
Barons beat the Indians in the second game of the series
The Cleveland Barons continued their fast pace in the second game of the series Sunday morning jumping out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Early in the second period they struck again on a power play to take a 3-0 lead, however Landon Hubbard took a nice pass from Cade Nolan and beat the defenseman and goalie to get the Indians on the board. In a penalty filled third period the Barons scored two power play goals and one even strength to take the win for Cleveland. Jared Sauve played excellent for the Indians in a losing effort.
The next action for the Indians will be at home on November 8 and 9 against the Michigan Nationals.
