Indians double up on Compuware 6-3

Indians opened quick in the first period on Alex Freund goal from Robbie Landis to put the Indians ahead 1-0 early, two minutes later Colin Goff scored on a pass from Landis to go up two on the Ambassadors.  Compuware cut the lead in half, then Brandon Vernarsky score shot from the point to regain the two goal lead through the first period.  The second period saw Compuware battle back scoring late in the second, then Seve Litz scored on a rebound shot from Jacob Nanna, also assisted by Cole Peterson late in the period to end the period with the Indians up 4-2.  The third period opened with Compuware get to within one goal before Freund scored his second of the night from Kyle Steven and Goff, the Goff scored on the empty net from Landis to ice the game with 15 seconds remaining.  Peter Baldwin took the win in net for the Indians.

Both teams with be back in action tomorrow morning 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Indians fall to Cleveland then tie in the Sunday rematch

Saturday nights game saw the Cleveland Barons jump out to a 4-0 lead which they carried into the third period before Colin Goff scored on a breakaway on a nice pass from Kyle Stevens midway through the period for a final score on 4-1.  Peter Baldwin had the duties between the pipes for the Indians in the loss.  Sunday game played out much different as the Indians jumped out to 1-0 lead on a colin Goff goal from Alex Freund for 1-0 lead throughout the first period.  Freund added to the lead early in the second period set up by Brandon Vernarsky and Goff, then Freund put home his second of the game from Goff and Kyle Stevens for a 3-0 lead.  The Barons fought back getting a goal midway through the second to, then Seve Litz went in on the Barons goalie alone betting him short side, however Cleveland answered back with two seconds remaining the period to send the teams into the dressing with the Indians up 4-2.  The Third period saw the Indians get two power play goals scored on them with the final one with 11 seconds remaining in the period to end in a 4-4 tie.  Cam LaBadie had the duties in goal for the Indians.

The Indians next action will be at home Oct 2 5pm and Sunday Oct 3 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena when they take on the Compuware Ambassadors from Detroit.

Indians complete the weekend sweep 6-1 over Green Bay

The Sunday morning rematch had the Indians again jump ahead midway through the first period when Curtis Hubbard scored from the slot on a pass from Grady Coppo for 1-0 lead that they carried to the end of the first period.  JT Gollinger got his first of two goals on a shot from in front of the net from Brandon Vernarsky and Coppo, then added his second on a tip from a pass by Robbie Landis for a 3-0 lead,  Green Bay answered back on an odd man rush to get back within two goals, however Colin Goff banged in a rebound on a power play shot by Vernarsky, also assisted by Kole Altergott to go up 4-1 late in the period.  The third period saw Altergott score a goal of his own set up by Ethan Lindie and Seve Litz buried a one time shot on a nice pass from Lindle for the sixth goal of the game.  Cam Labadie turned away 24 of the 25 shots in net to take the win.

The Indians next action will be Saturday 5pm and Sunday 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena when the play the Cleveland Barons.  Admission is free so come on out and support the Indians.

Indians win their home opener 4-3 over Green Bay

The home opener for 2021/22 had the Indians facing off against the Bobcats from Green Bay.  In the first period Brandon Vernarsky scored from the point from Colin Goff to break the ice and get the Indians on the board, three minutes later Seve Litz banged home a rebound from Goff and Vernarsky to put them up 2-0.  The second period had Alex Freund take the puck to the net beating their netminder, assisted by Goff and Kyle Stevens.  Midway through the second period Green Bay found their way scoring three unanswered goals to even the score at the a piece going into the third period.  Colin Goff scored on shot putting the Indians back ahead by a goal midway through the period, assisted by Robbie Landis and Alex Freund, which turned out to be enough and Peter Baldwin shut the door in net to preserve the 4-3 win.

Both teams will return to the ice Sunday morning 10am at the Taffey Abel Arena.

Indians are looking for a couple players

The Soo Indians AAA are looking for a few players to complete their line up for the 2021/22 season.  The Indians are looking for two forwards, a defensemen, and a goalie.  Any interested players should contact Dan Lasley at 906-322-1143 or Rick Corbiere at 906-322-2070.
