Meijer topples the Indians at the States

The Indians opened the second game of the MAHA State tournament early scoring the opening goal at 16:25 mark of the first period on a goal by Drew Miotke from Jack Matthias and Bryce O'Rouke, from that point on it was all Meijer as they scored 8 unanswered goals for an 8-1 win.  Logan Raffaele and Lucas Henderson split duties in the net for the Indians.

The Indians will regroup and take on Belle Tire tomorrow at 3pm.

Compuware tops the Indians 3-2

The first game of the State tournament saw the Indians fall to Compuware 3-2.  Compuware scored first midway through the first period and carried the lead till the end of the period.  Dylan Szabo scored off the face off won by Ethan Lindle to even the score, but the Ambassadors regained the lead late in the third.  Colin scored on the rush from Bryce O'Rourke to make it 2-2.  In the third Compuware scored what would turn out to be the winning goal.  Logan Raffaele had the duties in net.

Next action is Thursday 3pm against Meijer AAA

Congratutions to the Lake Superior State University Lakers and Soo Indians Alumni Ashton Calder and Spencer DenBeste on winning the WCHA Playoff Championship

Congratulations to Soo Indians Alumni Ashton Calder and Spencer DenBeste on winning the WCHA Playoff Championship, Also to Ashton on his "Hattrick" and being voted "Most Outstanding Player in the tournament".  Good luck to the Lakers on their bid for the National Championship.

Indians sweep Green Bay on the Weekend

Saturday opened a series against the Green Bobcats at the Pullar Staduim with a 4-1 win.  Will Boyer opened the scoring on a quick shot less the two minutes into the game after being set up by Bryce O'Rourke and Keldon Casey, then with two minutes remaining in the period Robbie Zimmerman beat their netminder on breakaway from Cole Peterson to take 2-0 lead at the end of the 1st period.  Neither team scored in the second and then early in the third Colin Goff added to the lead from Jack Mattais and midway through the period Eli Doughardt-Wood scored on a shot from the point, set up by Drew Miotke and Jack Mattais on the powerplay.  Green Bay broke the shut out with 1:27 remaining for a final score of 4-1 Indians.  Logan Raffaele took the win between the pipes.

On Sunday game started much different as Green Bay jumped out to a 1-0 lead, then Robbie Zimmerman scored on a back door pass from Kyle Stevens to tie things up.  However Green Bay came back to score two powerplay goals for a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period.  In the second Michael Szlag put a rebound home assisted by Will Boyer and Robbie Landis to get within one goal, then Colin Goff scored from Landis short handed to even the score at 3 a piece going into the third.  In an up and down third period Colin Goff found the puck in front of the Green Bay net and put it away for the game winning goal with 1:38 left in the period assisted by Jack Mattais and Drew Miotke.  The with 47 seconds left Ethan Lindle scored on the empty net to secure the win for the Indians.  Lucas Henderson took the Win in net for the Indians.

The Indians now head to Taylor, Michigan on Wednesday morning for the Michigan Amatuer Hockey State Championships.  Wednesday at 530 they will face off against Compuware, Thursday at 3pm against Meijer AAA, and Friday at 3 against Belle Tire.  Remaining games will be determined by the outcome of the previous games.

Indians drop a pair of games to Victory Honda on the Weekend

This weekend the Indians faced off against a very quick and skilled team Victory Honda.  On Saturday Victory Honda took a 1-0 lead in the first period and on to it through two periods before adding a second early in the. Third period.  Colin Goff cut their lead on a pass from Jack Mattais and Drew Miotke, however Honda regained their two goal lead and solicited the win with an empty net goal with 30 seconds remaining for the 4-1 win.  Logan Raffaele turned away 35 shots in the net for the Indians.

On Sunday Hond jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period before Kelden Casey scored on a pass from Ethan Lindle to break the shut out.  From that point on it was all Victory Honda as they added 4 more goals for a 7-1 win.  Logan Raffaele was in net for the Indians. 

Next action for the Indians will be March 20th 4pm and Sunday the 21st at 10am against Green Bay in two exhibition games at the Pullar Staduim before heading to Detroit for the MAHA State Championships on March 24th.
