Indians rebound with a win over the Northwest Star

In the second game the Indians came out early taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Ethan Lindle from Connor McAleer midway through the period, then Dylan Szabo added to the lead on a shot from the front of the net, set up by McAleer and Rob Landis for a 2-0 at the end of the period.  28 seconds into the second period Drew Miotke found a loose puck in front of the net to put the Indians up 3-0.  The Stars fought back getting two goals late in the period to cut the lead to one goal, then Colin Handy won the battle along the boards gettting the puck to Bryce Grandbois who hit Colin Goff on a breakaway for the fourth and winning goal.  Northwest manage to get one more goal however Lucas Henderson shut the door the rest of the way to preserve the win.

The Indians will now take on Shattuck St Mary tomorrow at 215 pm CST for the third game of the tournament.

Indians drop the first game against Carsheild at the Dixon Cup

Friday opening game at the Dixon Cup in Dallas Texas matched the Indians at the #14 ranked Carsheild out of St. Louis Missouri.  In the first period Carsheild capitalized on miscue on the power play for the Indians to go up 1-0 and carried the lead thru the midway point of the game. Late in the second Carshield scored their second short handed goal of the game for a 2-0 lead at the end of the second period.  Carsheild added two more goals before Robbie Zimmerman broke in on the net beating their netminder to get the Indians on the board, then less than a minute later Bryce Grandbois brought the puck of the boards on a cycle beating their goalie over the shoulder, bring the Indians back within two.  Drew Miotke and Colin Goff assisted on the goal.  In the remaining minutes the Indians pushed hard to close the gap however with 44 seconds remaining Carsheild cleared the puck the length of the ice hit the empty net to solidify the 5-2 win.  Logan Raffaele was in the net for the Indians.

Next action for the Indians will be at 815 pm CST Friday night when they will take on the Northwest Stars.

Dixon Cup Schedule

The following is the schedule for the NAPHL Dixon Cup in Dallas TX

Friday Feb 12. 9am. Soo Indians vs Carshield

 

                      815pm. Soo Indians vs NW Stars

 

Saturday Feb 13 215pm. Soo Indians vs Shattuck St Marys U18

 

Sundays game will be determined by the outcome of the previous games.  All games will be streamed by Mr. Landis on the Soo Indians facebook page and may also be televised on HockeyTV.  Also all times are Central Standard Time.

Indians on the road to Dallas Texas for the NAPHL Dixon Cup

  • The Indians hit the road Wednesday heading to Dallas for the NAPHL Dixon Cup traveling to Rolla Missouri on the first day, then on to Springfield Missouri in the morning and the campus of Missouri State University for a morning practice, meal and on to Dallas for the Friday morning game.

Indians open 2021 with a win and a tie on the road in Chicago

The Indians opened 2021 on the road in Chicago against the young Americans Saturday night.   Colin Goff opened the scoring when he stripped the puck from their defenseman and beat their netminder for the 1-0 lead through the first period, in the second Jack Mathias capitalized on a three way passing play form Will Boyer and Michael Szlag to give the Indians a 2-0 lead at the end of the second period.  In the third period Logan Raffaele turned away all shots sent his way to earn the win and preserve the shut out in net.

On Sunday CYA got on the board first for the early lead which they kept through two periods.  In the third period the Indians capitalized on an power play on a shot by Eli Doughardt-Wood, set up by Colin Handy and Connor McAleer to even the score, then less than a minute later Jack Matthias got his second of the weekend from Will Boyer to give the Indians the lead.  Chicago mounted a charge late in the third period jumping on a loose puck evening the score with 4 minutes remaining and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.  Lucas Henderson played outstanding in net for the Indians.

The next action will be TBA.
