Indians end the regular season on a winning note downing the Madison Capitals 5-2
Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 04:27PM The Indians completed the weekend sweep over the Madison Capitals 5-2 to close out the regular season. On Sunday Chris Hazen opened the scoring after he worked the puck out of the corner and beat the Caps goalie, less that a minute later Blake Mastaw put the puck past their goaltender from Ashton Calder and Hazen for a 2-0 lead. The Capitals got one of their own to get back within one goal and the period ended with the Indians up 2-1. In the second period Kyle Yates broke in over the line on a powerplay and put a shot over the goaltenders shoulder for a 3-1 lead assisted by Mike Miller and John Pesek, Madison answered back less than a minute later. Late in the second period Ashton Calder scored on a breakaway on a beautiful pass from Trevor Jestadt and Triston Theriot for a 4-2 lead. With 6 minutes remaining Drew Goupille threaded a shot from the point past the netminder assisted by Brenden MacLaren and Brendan Miller for the Indians 5th goal. Brandon Gordon took the win in net. The Indians finished the regular season with a record of 35 wins 17 losses and 5 ties.
The Indians travel to Detroit Wednesday to play in Michigan Amatuer Hockey State Championship.
