Indians open the season with three games against the Chicago Young Americans
This past weekend the Indians opened up at home with three games against the Chicago Young American. With everything that everyone is dealing with surrounding COVID 19 it was great to see the kids be able to compete in some games after a short week of practice and being off for two weeks. Saturday morning Chicago got on the board late in the first period on a power play, then with less than 1:18 remaining in the second period added two more for a 3-0 lead heading into the third period. The third period saw them add one more for 4-0 victory. Logan Raffaele was in net for the Indians turning away 34 shots.
The second game of the day was much the same as Chicago scored six unanswered goals and the Indians couldn't muster any offense failing 6-0. Aiden Winslow turned away 35 shots in a losing effort.
Sunday morning proved to be a tight game as Chicago got on the board with 5 seconds remaining in the first period, then both teams played even throughout the second. Finally in the third period Colin Goff scored on a breakaway on a nice stretch pass from Eli Doughart-Wood to even the score at 1-1. Neither team could find the winning goal and game ended in a 1-1 tie. Logan Raffaele played outstanding turning away 40 shots to preserve the tie.
Next week the Indians will take on the Lake Forrest Prep Academy at the Taffy Abel Arena, Saturday at 6pm and Sunday morning at 9am. Admission is free, fans must wear face mask and adhere to social distancing.
