Indians open MAHA regular season play at home this weekend
The Indians will open the 2020/21 MAHA regular season at home in the Taffy Abel Arena this weekend against the Oakland Jr. Grizzilies. The Indians will open on Saturday night at 6pm facing the Grizzilies who always continue to bost a team that is filled with quick skating skill players. The Indians team has been skating for the past couple of weeks and have competed in some exhibition games to get back into the feel before the weekend, this however will be their first big test of the season and also important points for the regular season standings. This years squad returns two veteran players from last years team in goalie Logan Raffaele and defenseman Rob Landis, along with three other local players in Dylan Szabo, Aedan Haapala and Kyle Stevens. The team will be looking for some older leadership on the ice from defenseman Eli Doughart-Wood from St. Louis, Missouri, Colin Handy Lennox Michigan, and forward Will Boyer of Rochester Hills, Michigan, other players that could make a significant impact will be Bryce Grandbois form Commerce Township Michigan, Colin Goff from Wasilla Alaska, Drew Moitke of Jackson Michigan, Robbbie Zimmerman from State College Pennsylvannia, Ethan Lindle from Indian River Michigan, Michael Szlag of Romeo Michigan, Peter Pawlanta from Gaylord Michigan and Jack Mattias from Negaunee. All are forwards that have potential to put up good scoring numbers this season. Cole Peterson of Cleveland Ohio will round out the defensive corps on the blue line and Aiden Winslow from Jacksonville Florida will complete the goalie tandem in net.
Games start 6pm Saturday night and 10am Sunday with free admission, come check out the team. Anyone attending the games must wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing.
