Indians drop a pair of games to OJG on the opening weekend
In the opening weekend of the MAHA league the Indians took on the Oakland Grizzilies at the Taffy Abel Arena. Oakland proved that they came to play taking a 2-0 lead in the first period and added two more in the second before Robbie Landis scored on shot from the left point assisted by Will Boyer and Bryce Grandbois to get the Indians on the board, however the Grizzilies bounced back adding their 5th goal late in the third for the 5-1 win. Logan Raffaele turned away 41 shots in a losing effort.
Sunday mornings game started out tight until Oakland scored on a power play midway through the first period for the 1-0 lead which they kept through the period. In the second the Grizzilies added two more goals before Jack Mattais beat the their goaltender on a breakaway on a stretch pass from Colin Goff to get the Indians back within 2 goals. That was however all the offense the Indians could generate while Oakland added 4 more goals for the 7-1 win. Aiden Winslow turned away 51 shot during the Sunday game.
The Indians will get back on the ice this week at practice to prepare for the CCM Invitational in Detroit where they will take on Belle Tire, Team Illinois, and Team Alaska on Friday and Saturday.
