Indians go 1 win and 3 losses at the CCM Invitational

The Indians traveled to Detroit this past weekend to participate in the CCM Invitational and opened against the eventual tournament champion Belle Tire.  In the opening game Belle Tire scored 2 goals in the first period, 3 in the second and 2 in the third before the Indians scored when Dylan Szabo found a lose puck in front of their net banging it home for the lone goal in the 7-1 loss.  Logan Raffael was in net for the game.

The second game of the day saw them taking on the Chicago Young Americans.  Chicago scored two late goals within 2 minutes in the first period for the lead then added one early in the second for a 3-0 lead.  Both teams played even throughout the remainder of the game and the Indians fell 3-0.  Aiden Winslow had the duties between the pipes for the Indians.

Saturday morning the Indians opened against the MDHL Green team.  MDHL opened the scoring in the first period with 3 unanswered goals in the first before Bryce Grandbois tipped a shot from Robbie Landis to the break the ice.  In the second the Indians found their stride scoring 3 unanswered goals to take a 4-3 lead, Jack Mattais scored from the slot on pass up ice from Landis and less than a minute later Colin Goff scored off a pass from Eli Doughart-Wood to even the score at 3 a piece.   Dylan Szabo scored what would be the eventual game winner after being set up by Peter Pawlanta and Indians took a 4-3 lead at the end of two periods.  In the third both teams battled back and forth until the 7:55 mark when Will Boyer completed a nice three way passing from Bryce Grandbois to make it 5-3 for the Indians win.  Logan Raffaele took the win in net.

In the fourth game the Indians met the MDHL White team and again the White jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period and added one more early in second before Will Boyer found a lose puck in front of the net and buried it, assisted by Eli Doughart-Wood to start the fight back.  Three minutes later Ethan Lindle put a nice pass from Boyer home to narrow the lead to 1.  In the third the game became a penalty mess and the Indians spent the majority of the period shorthanded allowing MDHL to score two powerplay goals and clinch the 5-2 win.  Aiden Winslow was in net for the Indians.

The Indians next action will be at home October 24 6pm and October 25 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena against Fox Motors from Grand Rapids.
