Indians go 1 win 3 loses at the Honeybaked Showcase
At the Honeybaked showcase in Detroit the Indians faced off against four top ranked team from the East Coast. Friday opening game pitted them against the New Jersey Hitman, Kevin Smith opened the scoring for the Indians early in the game set up by Kevin Bostwick and Max Povorozniuk for the lead, but the Hitman fought back to tie the game, then Bostwick scored one of his own from Jack Swan. Late in the period the Hitman scored two goals putting them up by one which proved to be enough for the win. Saturday morning the Indians took on the Islander Hockey Club from New York, Seth Francois got the Indians on the board early in this game from Cain Grosbeck, then Midway through the second period Tommy Cahill added to the lead to put the Indians up 2-0. The Islanders managed to get one back however Gabe Rosek closed the door to take the win in net. Saturdays second game proved to be a close game against the Skipjacks as the both teams skated even throughout the first half then the Skipjacks jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Tommy Cahill found the net from Jaden Martin to get the Indians back within one goal. However they couldn't manage to add any more and fell 2-1. Sundays final game of the weekend was against the New Hampshire Jr Monarhs proved to be a battle as the Indians had to play short due to injuries. The Monarchs opened the scoring but Tommy Cahill evened the score on a goal from Nick Castillo and Grant Wickham. The Monarchs then scored four unanswered goals before Jaden Martin got the Indians back on track from Cahill and Kyle Portlock, then Cahill scored his second the game, set up by Chase Tallaire, however with the net empty the Monarchs managed to score giving them the 6-3 win. Logan Raffaele was in net the Indians.
The Indians will be back on the road to Sarnia Ontario next weekend to participate in the Silver Sticks Tournament.
