Indians down Compuware 4-1 in Plymouth

On the second road game of the weekend the Indians put together a solid game to take a 4-1 victory. In the first period Compuware came out and put early pressure on the Indians, However CJ Boothe stood his ground and the Indians found their legs and at the 7:05 mark Brenden MacLaren banged home a rebound assisted by John Pesek and Ethan St.Germain. With 47 seconds remaining in the first period Blake Mastaw scored from Zach Satalino to take a 2-0 lead through the first period. In the second period the Indians continued to apply pressure and Mike Miller buried a shot from slot for 3-0 lead from Nick Skaluba and Kyle Yates. Compuware finally found a way to get one by Boothe on scramble in front of their net. However Ashton Calder took the puck to the net hard and put it behind the Compuware netminder for a 4-1 lead from Trevor Jestadt and Evan Augustine. From that point neither team could score and the Indians took the win. CJ Boothe played outstanding in the net for the win.

The Indians finish their road trip tomorrow morning at 11am against Honeybaked at Hazel Park Arena.

Indians fall 5-1 to Little Caesars

In the first game a 3 game swing in Detroit the Indians lost to Caesars 5-1. In the first period Caesars capitalized on two power plays and an even strength goal to take a 3-0 lead thru one period. In the second they continued their scoring for 4-0 advantage until Brendan Miller broke the ice for the Indians late in the period from Ashton Calder and Brenden MacLaren. Caesars scored one more goal and the Indians couldn't buy anymore goals and finished with a 5-1 final. Brandon Gordon took the loss in net.

The Indians will be back in action tomorrow at 1pm against Compuware.

Indians take game 4 in the cross border series 4-1 over the Thunderbirds

In the fourth game of the cross border series between the Indians and Thunderbirds the Indians downed the the Thunderbirds 4-1. In the first period the Thunderbirds opened scoring on a powerplay at the 9:15 mark, however one minute later Brenden MacLaren blocked a shot from the point and scored on a breakaway to knot the game at one. In the second period Zack Satalino scored from John Pesek and Kristian Jackson to take the lead. Four minutes later Cole Lussier found the net from MacLaren and Ashton Calder, then with 49 seconds remaining in the period Satalino scored his second of the game from Landon Hubbard and Brendan Miller. Both teams played even in the third with score ending 4-1. CJ Boothe took the win in net. The series is now two wins and two ties for the Indians with two games remaining.

The next action for the Indians is Friday night at 8pm at the Joe Louis arena against Little Caesars, Saturday at 1pm in Plymouth against Compuware, and Sunday at 11am in Hazel Park against Honeybaked.

Congrats to Seiya Hayata on being selected for team Japan's U20 team

Seiya Hayata a member of the 2013-14 Soo Indians team has been selected to play for team Japan at the U20 World Championships in Hungary. During the 2013-14 season Seiya had 8 goals 15 assists and 16 penalty minutes in 55 games. The entire Soo Indians family would like to wish Seiya good luck in the tournament.

Hubbard Returns

It's with great pleasure that the Soo Indians Midget AAA Hockey Club announce the return of Landon Hubbard.  Hubbard shows great potential and brings with him a strong sense of commitment to the club.  Last year, Hubbard racked up 24 points with 11 goals and 13 assists in 50 games. 

Hubbard's return will add more depth to an already experienced lineup of players.  Along with Hubbard, there is a total of eight local Soo area players rostered for the Soo Indians showing the organization's efforts to keep top-knotch hockey within the local community.

The Soo Indians will host the Marquette Electricians on December 13 and 14.  The December 13th game wil be played at LSSU with a 6pm start time.  Sunday's (December 14th) game is slated for 10am at the Pullar Stadium.
