Indians top the Mississauga Rebels 5-1

In a must win game the Indians came out determined to get the job done and showed it early into the game when Mike Miller scored on a pass from Cole Lussier and Blake Mastaw, 20 seconds later John Pesek came in and buried a pass from Lussier and Mastaw to put the Indians up two goals early in the game. At 7 minute mark Triston Theriot put solid body check on the Rebels player that shattered the glass and stopped play for about 20 minutes. When played resumed the Rebels found a way to break the ice to get within 1, however from that point on the Indians poured on the pressure with two more goals in the second period, Ashton Calder from Brendan Miller and Brenden Maclaren from Kyle Yates and Calder. In the third Calder scored his second of the game on a power play from Lussier and Yates to solidify the win. CJ Boothe took the win between the pipes.

Toronto Young Nats down the Indians 4-2

The Indians jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first period when Kristian Jackson buried a rebound assisted by Evan Augustine. The Nats answered back on a power play to tie the game and again to take a one goal lead through the first period. In the second the Nats scored two more and went to the dressing with a 4-1 lead. In the third they trimmed the lead to 4-2 on a goal by Blake Mastaw from John Pesek and Mike Miller. The Soo had several chances but couldn't muster another goal and went down 4-2. Brandon Gordon took the loss in net.

The next game will be tomorrow at 11 am against the Mississauga Rebels.

Indians fall to the Don Mills Flyers 2-1

Both teams played an excellent game and several opportunities to score in the first period but both goaltenders made spectacular saves to keep the score knotted at zero at the end of the first period. Late in the second the flyers lit the lamp to take the lead and maintained it until late in the third when Ashton Calder scored on a power play from Cole Lussier to tie the game. With minutes remaining the Indians were called for two penalties and forced to kill a 5-3. The Flyers converted with 1:07 remaining and lead 2-1. The Indians had two golden opportunities in the last minutes but didn't capitalize. CJ Boothe played outstanding in net.

The Indians will play the Toronto Young Nationals at 9:30 tonight.

Indians open the Nickel City tournament with a 5-3 win over the host Nickel City Sons

Opening the tournament against the host team the Nickel City Sons they came away with the win. Nickel City opened the scoring on an odd man rush midway through the first period to take the lead, however the Indians fought back and Evan Augustine evened the score assisted by Nick Skaluba. Two minutes later Brenden MacLaren picked up a rebound off an Ashton Calder shot to take the lead. Nickel City fought back to tie the score to end the first period. In the second the Indians jumped out to a two goal lead on goals by Calder and Satalino with assist going to Satalino, Pesek, and Calder. The Sons found a way to get one more goal to get within one but could get another and with their net empty in the third MacLaren and Satalino fought to get the puck out of the zone and Calder iced the game with an empty net goal. Brandon Gordon took the win in net.

The Indians return to action at 11 am tomorrow against the Don Mills Flyers.

Indians blank the Barons 3-0 to complete sweep on the weekend

The Sunday rematch started with both teams up and down the ice with several scoring chances, however both goalies shut the door. With the clock winding down on the first period Mike Miller picked of a clearing pass and scored with 2 seconds remaining to take a 1 goal lead into the dressing room. In second the Indians were forced to kill off 3 back to back penalties and 5-3, however defensively they proved to be up to the task as neither team would score in the period. In the third Mike Miller scored his second of the game on a nice back door play from Cole Lussier and Blake Mastaw. Both teams played even until Ashton Calder stole the puck with a minute remaining and went down to blasted a slapshot pasted the Barons goalie to solidify the win. CJ Boothe played outstanding in the net for win and the shutout.

Next action for the Indians will be this coming Thursday when play their first game at the Big Nickel tournament in Sudbury Ontario.
