Indians split on the weekend with Honeybaked

In the final weekend of MAHA league action the Indians had to battle Honeybaked out of Detroit for important points on the line.  Saturday Honeybaked opened the scoring late in the first period and then added two more early in the second period for a 3-0 lead after two periods..In the third Alex Fruend scored from Kyle Stevens early in the period and with 18 seconds remaining Colin Handy scored assisted by Fruend, however it was too late and Honeybaked preserved the win 3-2.  Taylor White handled the duties in net.

The Sunday rematch started much different as Indians came out scoring 5 goals in the first period, first Kevin Smith scored from Curtis Hubbard and Grady Coppo, then three minutes later Smith scored his second from Coppo and Hubbard.  Nine minutes later Seve Litz scored off a nice set up by Kole Altergott, with 4 minutesremaining Robbie Landis took a rush down the ice while killing a penalty and beat their netminder over the glove and with 1:58 remaining Altergott picked off a pass up the middle and went in alone beating their goaltender for 5-0 lead at the end of the period.  In second Honeybaked opened scoring early and added a second goal 2 minutes later to cut the lead to three, but from that point on Taylor White shut the door turning away 36 of the 38 shots sent his way to secure the 5-2 win for the Indians.

The Indians will be at home next weekend to take on Lake Forrest Prep Academy Saturday at 530pm at the Pullar Staduim and then Sunday morning 10am at the Taffy Abel.
