Indians win two in the opening day of the Barrie Tournament

The opening game saw the Indians face the host team the Barrie Colts, Hudson Troyer opened the scoring from Chase Tallaire and Warner Young for the early lead, then Garth Wickham scored from Spencer Samppala to go up two.  The Colts added one to trim the lead to 2-1 through the first period.  In the second Troyer scored his second of the game from Tallaire, and Michael Chapman scored from Cody Colegrove and Bren Lyons for a 4-1 lead at the end of the second period.  In the third period Jeff Rahilly scored to from Justin Moyle, then Rahilly added second of the game from Colton Hayes to round out the scoring.  Barrie scored three in the third but couldn’t muster enough giving a final score of 6-4.

In second game the Indians took on the Oshawa Generals, both teams traded goals in the first minute of play.  The Generals scored then Colton Hayes came right back putting a shot over the shoulder of their netminder on a pass from Jeff Rahilly, then midway through the period Hayes scored his second of the game from Garth Wickham and Rahilly for the 2-1 lead.  The Generals tied the game up in the second but with eight minutes remaining in the third period Garth Wickham put a shot over the shoulder for the game winning goal from Rahilly again for the 3-2 win.

The Indians will face the Peterborough Petes at 1245 Saturday then the New Liskard Cubs at 630.

Indians add two players to their roster

The Soo Indians have added two players to the 2017-18 roster.  Dyllon Anderson joins the Indians and will add strength up front with experience, Dyllon played with the Indians last season scoring 5 goals and 6 assists and will be looking to add to them numbers during the remainder of the season.  Also joining the Indians is Garth Wickham, Garth hails from Escanaba Michigan and in 26 games scored 26 goals and 9 assists in the 2016-17 season with Escanaba High School.  Garth bring strength up front with a knack for scoring.

The Indians travel to Barrie Ontario this Friday to compete in the Barrie Colts tournament.

NJ Hitmen top the Indians

In the sweet sixteen game of the CCM invitational tournament the Indians met up with the New Jersey Hitmen.  The Hitmen opened the scored the first goal midway through the first period, however the Indians answered back at the 2:42 mark on a goal by Hudson Troyer from Jason Kasper and Chase Tallaire to even the score at one through one period.  New Jersey scored three unanswered goals in the second period to take the lead, then added one empty net goal in the third for the 5-1 win.  Dmitri Kochan was in the net for the Indians.

The Indians travel to Barrie Ontario next weekend for the Invitational tournament.

Indians fall to CYA 5-0

In the third game of CCM Invitational the Indians faced off against the Chicago Young Americans.  CYA jumped out to an early lead on a power play goal.  CYA added another in the first period for a 2-0 lead at the end of the 1st period.  The Indians had their chances but couldn’t capitalize and CYA added three more goals to solidify the win.  Dmitri Kochan played excellent in net.

The Indians next action will be at 3:50 today against the NJ Hitmen.

Indians top the Jets 3-2

The second game of the CCM Invitational saw the Indians take on the Janesville Jets.  Janesville jumped out to an early lead 15 seconds into the game.  Midway through the first period Chase Tallaire set up Cam Parrott in front of the net for the tying goal, then at the four minute mark Bren Lyons tipped a shot by Justin Moyle to go ahead by one goal for the lead at the end of the first period.  Parrott scored his second of the game midway through the third period from Hudson Troyer for a two goal lead, however the Jets got one with three minutes left to get back within one.  Alex Rairigh shut the door after that to take the 3-2 win.  The Indians will take on the Chicago Young Americans tomorrow morning at 9:10am.
