Indians open the CCM Invitational with a 6-2 win

Early Friday morning the Indians hit the ice in their first game of the CCM Invitational in Chicago IL.  Early in the first period Michael Chapman opened the scoring for the Indians from Jason Kasper and Justin Moyle, less than a minute later Jeff Rahilly scored from Parker Rutledge for a two goal lead.  Tri City Spartans got one goal of their own to get back within one, but Hudson Troyer opened it up by two again on a nice pass from Chase Tallaire.  Colton Hayes added to the score late in the period from Warner Young and Spencer Samppala to send the teams to the dressing room after two with the Indians up 4-1.  In the third Tallaire added a goal of his own from Cam Parrott and Rahilly scored his second of the game from Bren Lyons for a 6-1 lead.  Tri City scored one more however the Indians prevailed winning 6-2.  Dmitri Kochan took the win in the net.

The Indians will now play the Janesville Jets at 250 this afternoon.

Indians fall 6-1 to LFA

In Sunday mornings game the Indians skated even through much of game, however penalties proved to be their problem as LFA scored 4 power play goals to stretch the lead and control the game.  The only goal came on a power play of their own, Hudson Troyes scored on a pass from Nathan Brown for their only goal of the game.  Dmitri Kochan faced 35 shots in the net for the Indians.

 

The Indians will regroup and travel to Chicago next weekend for the CCM Invitational tournament.

Lake Forest tops the Indians

In Saturdays opening game of the weekend Lake Forest didn’t waste any time and jumped out to an early 1-0, however Jeff Rahillly answered back one minute later to tie the game assisted by Justin Moyle and Spencer Samppala closing out the scoring in the first period.  The second was all LFA as the scored four unanswered goals in the second period and then a quick one in the third for a final score of 6-1.  Alex Rairigh was in the net for the Indians.
Both teams will return to action Sunday morning at 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Fox Motors take two game from the Indians over the weekend

The Indians traveled to Grand Rapids this weekend to take on Fox Motors, Saturday the Indians couldn’t get anything going their way and fell 7-0, with Dmitri Kochan in net for the loss.  On Sunday the teams played back and forth hockey, Fox opened the scoring midway through the first period for the early lead, however Colton Hayes scored on rebound from a shot by Michael Chapman to even the score.  Fox scored their second of the game to regain the lead and late in the first period Jason Kasper scored on a shot from the top of the circle from Spencer Samppala to knot the score at two a piece at the end of the first period.  Fox scored their third goal on power play midway through the second period, however Hayes scored his second of the game from Chapman again on an Indians power play to even the score again.  Fox scored two more to jump out to a two goal lead but with time winding down in the second period Cody Colegrove scored from Chase Tallaire and Mat Thurston to get back with in one at the end of two periods.  In the third period both teams traded good scoring chances, however with 30 seconds remaining Fox scored on an open net to solidify the win.  Dmitri Kochan with in the net for the Indians.
Next action for the Indians will be at home next weekend when they take on Lake Forest Prep Academy at 5pm Saturday and 10am Sunday at the Taffy Abel Arena on the campus of LSSU.
