IHC edges the Indians 4-3 in a shoot out

Saturdays second game saw the Indians face off against the Islanders Hockey Club from New York, early on the Indians jumped out to 1-0 lead on a shorthanded goal by Brendan Miller on a nice feed from Spencer DenBeste and Dylan Cook.  Late in the first period Miller beat the IHC defenseman then the goaltender for his second goal of the game for a 2-0 lead which they carried into the third period before IHC got on the board.  The Indians regained their 2 goal lead on a shot from the point by Kalvin Hillock, however late in the third the Indians gave up 2 goals and send the game into overtime.  Both teams played 3 on 3 for 5 minutes in OT, however neither could score and the game went into a shoot out of three player and with the final IHC player scoring the game went to IHC.

The Indians will play Virtua Hockey tomorrow morning at 815 in the final game of the Honeybaked Invitational.

Indians get stung by the Scorpions 4-1

The Indians started the morning fast and on the 1st shift when Zak Lasley dished a puck off the boards to Tiger Weber who fed Spencer DenBeste in on the net for the goal and 1-0 lead 40 seconds into the game.  From that point on Tampa turned the tables and scored 4 unanswered goals for a 4-1 win.  Jordan Lawday was between the pipes for the Indians.  The next action will be at 4pm against Virtua hockey from New York.

Indians drop a heartbreaker in OT

Friday nights match up at the Honeybaked Invitational pitted the Indians against the Skipjacks from Baltimore MD.  In the first period Spencer Denbeste won the draw back to Tiger Weber who hit the far point Justin Hendrickson who buried a shot from there to give them a 1-0 lead.  Dyllon Anderson picked off a pass behind the Jacks net and stepped out to score making it 2-0.  The Skip Jacks got on the board in the second period, but Spencer DenBeste and Brendan Miller found themselves in on goalie killing a penalty and nice passing between them DenBeste scored for a 3-1 lead.  In the third the Jacks attacked the net in the period to knot the score at 3-3 through regulation time.  In the 3 on 3 overtime the teams exchanged chances before the Skip Jacks scored at the 2:59 mark for a 4-3 win.  Aidan Curry played excellent the net for the Indians.

The Indians return to action in the morning against the Tampa Bay Scorpions.

Grizzlies top the Indians 5-2 

On Sunday morning Spencer DenBeste put Indians up by one for the early lead in the first period, the Grizzlies fought back to tie the score then added another to take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period.  The second saw the Grizzlies add one more before Brendan Milller scored to get back within one goal, however Oakland added two more for 5-2 lead at the end of the second period.  Neither team scored in the third period and game ended 5-2, Aidan Curry played the first two periods in net before Jordan Lawday came on in the third period.
The Indians now will travel to Detroit next week to participate in the Honeybaked Invitational Tournament

Oakland Grizzilies cruise past the Indians 6-0 in the first game of the weekend series

Oakland came ready to play and showed why they are ranked #6 in the country.  Right from the drop of the puck they pressed and scored early on the first shift to set the tone for the game.  Oakland scored one more in the first period, then added three in the second for 5-0 lead going into the third period.  The Indians did get their legs going in the third period and missed 3 golden opportunities but couldn't score, Oakland scored one more in the third for the final score of 6-0.   Aidan Curry stopped 45 shots for the Indians.
The teams return to action Sunday morning at 10am, Taffy Abel Arena.
