Indians top Team Illinois 3-1


Friday night against Team Illinois the Indians found their legs and start early in the first period when Brendan Miller took a pass from Spencer DenBeste in front of the net, putting a nice shot low past the TI netminder for the early lead, Kalvin Hillock had the other assist.  Late in the first Nolan Slachetka scored his first on two goals in his return to his home state, assisted by fellow Illinois native Tiger Weber.  Early in the third Slachetka scored his second of the from Justin Moyle for a 3-0 lead.  It wasn't until in the third that TI broke the ice and finallly got a puck past Jordan Lawday.  Lawday played outstanding in the net for the win.

 

The Indians now play tomorrow morning at 730 am CST time against the Iowa Wild.

Indians fall in the final seconds of the game to the Rocky Mountain Roughriders 3-2

Rough Mountain caught the Indians early scoring in the first two minutes to go ahead 1-0, then played even through the first period.  In second the Roughriders scored again for 2-0 lead before Kyle Lake found a rebound in front of the net on shot from the point from Justin Hendrickson to get back within one goal.  Halfway through the 3rd period the Indians won the draw in their end and Kalvin Hillock hit Zak Lasley who sprung Tiger Weber for a breakaway and the tying goal.  The teams played even till 25 seconds remaining when the Indians missed their opportunity to win and Rocky Mountain went the other way scoring to take the 3-2 win.  Aidan Curry was in net for the Indians.
The Indians will now take on Team Illinois at 4pm CST tonight.

Lake Forest Prep tops the Indians 2-1

In the Sunday morning rematch the Indians opened the game with several grade A oportunities, however the LFA goaltender was up to the task and the first period ended 0-0. In the second period three minutes in LFA got on the board late to take a 1-0 lead.  Late in the second period the Indians were assessed a 5 minute penalty that carried over to the third period, and LFA capitalized scoring early the third period for a 2-0 lead.  The Indians didn't lay down and kept the pressure on hitting a goal post midway through and then Nolan Slachetka found a loose puck in the crease and put it home to get writhin one goal.  From that point on the they continued to push the pace and fight for the tying goal, however they just couldn't get it past the LFA netminder and final score ended 2-1.  Jordan Lawday played exceptional in the net for the Indians stoping 23 of the 25 shots sent his way.

 

The Indians now go on the road to Chicago, IL to play in the Bauer Invitational next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Lake Forest Prep scores 4 to top the Indians

Lake Forest Prep came ready to play and set a quick pace early in the game.  Both teams went up and down the ice in the first period playing even as neither team could capitalize on their scoring chances, in the second period Lake Forest jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Kyle Lake found himself wide open in front of net on a pass from Avery Rebek to score shorthanded and get within one goal, and the teams went to the dressing room with LFA up 2-1.  In the third period LFA put two more on the board for a final score of 4-1, Aidan Curry stop 30 shots on net in a losing effort.

Both teams return to action tomorrow morning 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena.

Indians rebound Sunday morning for a 4-1 win over Victory Honda

Sundays game was a wide open end to end game, Victory Honda opened scoring midway through the first period and maintained the lead through the first period.  Ten minutes into the second period Brendan Miller took a pass from Tiger Weber and Mat Thurston and cut in over the Honda blueline and put a shot past the netminder to even the score.  Late in the second Spencer Silver split the Victory Honda defense and went in on a breakaway to score, assists going to Spencer DenBeste and Zak Lasley.  In the third the Indians scored when Tiger Weber took a transition pass from Dylan Cook to go in and put a shot from the top of circle for a two goal lead.  Honda continued to force the puck to the net however Aidan Curry was up to the task stopping everything they sent his way and with Honda's goalie out Spencer DenBeste won the drawn and buried a shot in the net to solidfy the 4-1 win.  Aidan Curry played outstanding stopping 38 of the 39 shots sent his way to earn the win.

The Indians continue their homestand as the will take on Lake Forest Prep Academy next Saturday, 3pm and Sunday 10am at the Taffy Abel Arena.
