Honeybaked ends the Indians run at the Mid Winter Classic

The Indians came out determined to win however after Honeybaked with stood a barage of shots in the first period they were the ones to score first in the second period, then added a second for a 2-0 lead.  Early in the third Brenden MacLaren scored of the draw on a powerplay, assisted by Spencer DenBeste, on a power play to get within one goal.  That however was all the Indians could get and Honeybaked added two more to solidify the win.  Will Hartwick was in the net for the Indians.

The Indians return home next weekend to play Lake Forest Prep Academy Saturday at 11am and 6pm, then Sunday 9am.  All games will be played at LSSU.

Indians scalp the West Coast Renegades 9-0

Saturday mornings game saw the Indians face off against the West Coast Renegades from Salt Lake City Utah.  The Indians opened with continuous pressure and finally Tiger Weber took a pass from Zak Lasley to go in on a breakaway and bury the shot for the first goal, Nick Skaluba had the other assist.  Ethan St.Germain got on the board from Spencer DenBeste and Brenden MacLaren for 2-0 lead at the end of the period.  The Indians added 5 more goals in second, first DenBeste scored from MacLaren, Skaluba scored from the point from Tommy Holowchuk and Jake Smith, Brendan Miller scored unassisted, Anthony Harris added one, and Smith scored from Sasha Miniouchine and Holowchuk.  In the third Brenden MacLaren added a goal from DenBeste and Dylan Cook and Jonathon Bostwick rounded out the scoring from Smith and Holowchuk for the 9-0 final.  Shaun Brown had the shut out in net.  The Indians now face off tonight at 8:15 against Honeybaked to determine who will move on to the semi finals.

Indians ride the wave to a 3-2 victory

Friday nights game saw the Indians face off against the California Wave, early in the game the Indians put continus pressure on the Wave but couldn't score and California took advantage of a couple turn overs and ended up down 2-0 early into the second period.  Finally midway through the second period Brendan Miller scored from Spencer DenBeste on a power play to get back to within one goal, in the third DenBeste won the draw back to Brenden MacLaren who put a nice shot over the Wave goaltender to even the score at 2.  Midway through the third period the Indians were force to kill off a 7 minute penalty and were up to the task and after killing it off with 3 minutes remaining Spencer Denbeste found the net from Ethan St.Germain and MacLaren for the game winning goal.  Shaun Brown was in the pipes for the win.

The Indians will now take on the West Coast Renagades from Utah tomorrow morning 945 am at the Taylor Sports Plex.

Fox Motors tops the Indians 6-3

In the opening game of Mid Winter Classic Fox motors jumped out to a 1-0, but late in the first period Ethan St.Germain scored on a pass from Brenden MacLaren and Justin Hendrickson to even the score through one period.  Fox scored first in the second again but less than a minute later Tiger Weber scored off a pass from Nick Skaluba and Zak Lasley, then late in the second Fox Motors scored on a breakaway to go up one at the end of two periods.  The third period saw Fox score three goals while the Indians only managed one from Brendan Miller, assisted by Zach Ahola and Jonathon Bostwick for a 6-3 final score.  Will Hartwick took the loss in net.

The next game for the Indians will be a 4:45 at the Taylor Sportsplex against the California Wave.

Indians drop a heartbreaker in a shoot out

Sunday mornings game started out fast with a quick pace for both teams with end to end action.  Compuware drew first blood to go ahead 1-0, but less than a minute later Tommy Holowchuk went to the net hard and banged home a rebound off a shot by Sasha Miniouchine with the other assist to Jake Smith.  Nick Skaluba threaded a shot through traffic off a pass from Zach Ahola to put the Indians ahead 2-1, Compuware came back with two goals of their own to take a 3-2 lead in the middle of the second period.  Then with 2:41 remaining in the second period and killing a penalty Brendan MacLaren stole the puck off a block shot and went in and blew a slapshot past the Ambassador netminder to tie the game at 3-3, however the Indians weren't done yet and with 1.2 seconds remaining in the second period Ethan St.Germian found the net from Skaluba and Dylan Cook to go to the dressing room up 4-3.  Compuware came out in the third and tied the game early and from that point on neither team could find the winning goal.  In the five minute 4 on 4 overtime no one could manage to end the game and it went to a shoot out, after five rounds the game was decided when the Compuware player scored.  

The Indians next action will be in Detroit next weekend when they travel to Detroit to play in the Victory Honda tournament.
