Indians fall to the London Jr Knights

Penalties were the Indians enemy again today against the London Knights as they score 3 power play goals to down the Indians 4-1.  The Indians jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Landon Hubbard buried a nice shot past the Knights goalie assisted by John Pesek and Brenden MacLaren early in the first period.  Both teams played tight until the 4 minute mark of the second period when the Indians were called for two penalties and were force to kill on a 5-3.  The Knights manage to score two goals during this power play and was the difference in the game, in the third the Indians had several opportunities to but couldn't get any offense and Knights finished the game with an empty net goal at the end of the game for the win.  Brandon Gordon played excellent in the net in a losing effort.

The Indians will take on the Toronto Marlies tonight at 7:10 pm

Brampton 45's down the Indians 5-1

In the second game of the Silver Sticks Brampton came out and scored on 3 powerplays and one even strength goal to take a 4-0 lead into the dressing room at the end of 2 periods.  In the third the Indians found some offensive and Zach Satalino made a strong move to the net and backhanded a shot by the Brampton goalie, assisted by Trevor Jestadt and Kristian Jackson.  The Indians continued to try and fight back but another powerplay goal by Brampton closed the deal on the win for them.  CJ Boothe played outstanding in a loosing effort making several outstanding saves.

The Indians resume play tomorrow morning against the London Jr. Knights.

Indians blank the Rocky Mountain Roughriders 1-0 in the opening game of the Silver Stick Tournament

Blake Mastaw scored at the 8:59 mark of the third period assisted by Kyle Yates and Ashton Calder to defeat the Roughriders in the first game of the Silver Stick Hockey Tournament in Sarnia, Ontario.  Brandon Gordon was in the for the shutout and win.

The Indians play their second game at 5:45 tonight against the Brampton 45's.

Indians complete the sweep over the Lansing Capitals with a 7-3 win

On Sunday morning the Indians came to play right from the drop of the puck, early into the first period Chris Hazen made a nice pass out Mike Miller who buried a shot past the Capitals goalie for the first goal of the period.  Landon Hubbard followed up scoring on a rebound assisted by Triston Theriot and Brenden MacLaren for the second goal, then John Pesek picked up a puck in the neutral zone and went down beating the Caps defenseman and the goalie to put the Indians up 3-0.  They weren't done yet and Ashton Calder won the battle in front of their net and banged home the puck for the final goal of the period.  In the second period the Indians were forced to kill several penalties and the Capitals converted on two of their powerplays to get back within two goals.  After killing off the penalties the Indians converted on a powerplay of their own when Kyle Yates put a shot from the point through traffic and the Capitals goalie assisted by Pesek and Cole Lussier and the teams went to the dressing room at the end of 2 periods with Indians up 5-2.  To start the third period the Indians got caught napping and the Capitals scored 23 seconds in to get back within two, after that they got back to work and MacLaren scored on a pass from Brendan Miller, two minutes later Lussier finished the scoring on a nice pass from Blake Mastaw.  CJ Boothe played outstanding making 35 saves in the net for the win.

The Indians travel to Sarnia Ontario on Thursday January 15 to compete in the Silver Sticks Hockey tournament.

Indians down the Capitals 5-2

The Saturday night match up between the Indians and the Capitals started out as a tight checking match until Evan Augustine picked off a pass between their defense and went in to beat the Capitals goalie to take a 1-0 lead through the first period.  In the second Lansing stormed back to tie the game at the 4:02 mark, however the Indians took back the lead on a powerplay goal by Trevor Jestadt assisted by Mike Miller to regain the lead at the 11:20 mark.  The Capitals did not quit and with 1.5 seconds remaining in the second period they found a way get the puck past the Indians goaltender to knot the score at 2 at the end of the second period.  In the third period the Indians came out determined to pick up the pace and regain the lead, with 40 seconds into the period Cole Lussier took and pass from Ashton Calder and Blake Mastaw and put the Indians back in the lead again.  Later in the period Trevor Jestadt followed in on a rush and picked up a rebound assisted by Kristian Jackson and Zach Satalino to go up two goals on the Capitals.  With time winding down and the Capitals goalie pulled Brandon Gordon cleared the puck up the wall on dump in and ended up on the stick of Brenden Maclaren who scored on the empty net to solidify a 5-2 win for the Indians.  Brandon Gordon was in the net for the tribe in a winning effort.  Both teams return to action tomorrow morning at 11am at the Pullar Staduim.
